Whether you like your seafood fried, grilled or blackened, Back Bay Restaurant has you covered. The award winning chefs at this local hot spot can cook your menu choice to your liking and serve it up with a smile. Some restaurants charge extra to change the cooking method on a dish but not these accommodating folks! They are here to please and they’re all about the flavor and service.
Rest assured that the servers are top notch and the bartenders are professional mixologists that will cater to your every whim and will whip up whatever you want. The servers start their shifts unlike most others on the coast. When they report to work in the morning their first order of business is prepping the bread for the restaurants famous homemade croutons. It’s rare to find servers doing food prep but at Back Bay everyone is cross-trained in many different areas so that they can perform their jobs with knowledge and accuracy. The dressings are homemade too. Try dipping your hand-cut fries in the balsamic vinaigrette or the chunky blue cheese!
Owner, Chef Rob Stinson says that he has always liked the feel of Back Bay because it’s more relaxed and locally favored by his clientele. “We serve our guests with a down-home, Cajun flare and we understand the laid-back feel of coastal living. The workers here treat the guests like family and that is precisely what locals want to see. Those who choose to eat here often do it because of the combination of the scenery, the food and the atmosphere of a casual, coastal home dining room.”
The restaurant has gone through some major renovations in the last year or two and now offers a light and airy seating section outdoors that diners rave about. The screened in porch has views of Back Bay that offer some of the most amazing sunsets that the coast has ever seen. Even employees get into the action at sunset when they can be seen stepping out onto the porch to capture beautiful evening sunset shots on the water.
The restaurant always offers special features at lunch and dinner and uses one menu all day long instead of one for lunch and a separate one for dinner. If you’re not sure what to order but want a great seafood experience, try the Seafood Bread to start. It’s a pile of love on a plate that showcases not only local seafood but perfectly prepared rosemary ciabatta bread and of course the chefs famous supreme sauce.
Every Cajun loves flavors of the bayou and Back Bay has hit upon a winning combination in its Bayou Platter. Frog legs and alligator fry up a golden brown and are paired with crawfish and catfish.
Guests can choose a live Maine lobster out of the tank or go for more traditional fare with a hand-formed burger and fries. Back Bay caters and sells platters for events that can be picked up at your convenience. Party favorites include gumbo for Christmas or Supreme Sauce to go with your Thanksgiving turkey.
