Big Mike’s is doing nightlife in a BIG way! Located in downtown Gulfport, just off the beach, on 14th Street, the atmosphere is captivating and inviting. Whether you choose to laze on the porch and sip a mint julep or belly up to the bar and chat with friends over an ice cold martini, you will be amazed at how homey and old-world the feeling is.
Owner, Amy Tennyson, is bringing her southern Florida charm to this local hot spot. The bartenders are professionals that can mix up whatever you desire while making you feel at home with their down to earth ways.
Manager, Jeff Daluisio says that Happy Hour is Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and specials are always on tap. Try the Speakeasy moonshine or a frozen Bushwhacker to start off your evening right. The building seats over 250 people and there’s no cover. December is going to be a big month for bands and D.J.’s at Big Mike’s. There’s always live music on Friday and Sunday nights and a D.J. on Saturdays. On the 9th, Red Room Arrangement bring their lively music to the club and on 16th, Big Band Theory performs. The shows are No Cover admittance! But get ready for another huge treat on December 17th because 2 acts from New Orleans will be at the club to blow your mind. Private Pyle and D.J. Scratch-mo will liven up the joint with their unique style and stage presence.
When you go to these shows, remember one thing that is always in style, giving back to local charities. Big Mike’s will accept your non perishable food donations at the door during shows as a way of supporting the community and those in need.
New Years Eve will have a cover but there will be a ton of dancers and D.J.’s to wow you all night long. They include DJ Illusion, Team Energi from Tampa and DJ Redbone from Pass Christian.
Food is a big part of the whole Speakeasy experience. Chef Connie Bennett aka “Pokey” is in the kitchen serving up one of the finest menus to ever grace a southern bar. Giant Chicken fingers and hand-cut potato chips are seasoned and hot out of the fryer when they hit your table. In support of their local business neighbors, Big Mike’s gets their bread from Henry’s Bakery in d’Iberville. The roast beef is from Chicago and there is always a daily special for lunch and dinner. “Everyone raves over our Meatloaf Plate Special on Thursdays and our Safe house Huge Sandwich on Saturdays. Every day has a different special and the kitchen is open late on the weekends,” Amy said. Call the club for more information at 228-265-5472. Check out all the upcoming events at
