After Dark in Lil’ Italy – The Coast Newest Night Club

Backbreaking work, tenacity and a love of two worlds come together in a place where locals can feel right at home. The owners of Lil’ Italy Original Chicago Italian Food Restaurant have finally had their hard work pay off. Tony and Lori Abbate have owned businesses before but none quite as enjoyable as there new Lil’ Italy.
No longer is the restaurant housed in a tiny little shack near the interstate. The new location is a spacious and well established building in Ocean Springs that boasts a lavish bar and room for over 150 people. Dining tables spread out in two large rooms to create an airy and easy feeling. Lunch and dinner are casual affairs with homemade Italian cuisine that will make your mouth water.
The latest venture for the two entrepreneurs is turning Lil’ Italy into the place to be on the coast when the sun goes down. Lil’ Italy After Dark is a rockin’ club that is transformed in the evenings by simply moving a few tables, adding a band or DJ and letting the crowd dance the night away.
The nightclub is host to the 2012 Talent Quest National Karaoke Singing Contest. Every Friday night at 9 p.m. there will be qualifying rounds with winners returning in July to compete for the regional finals. Each Tuesday at 9 p.m. gives you another opportunity to see these incredible acts as they compete for the coveted award.
“After Dark” won the right to hold the regional finals at the club after a grueling battle with other clubs from Florida to Louisiana. Officials were so impressed with the club and the owners that they had no problem choosing the location. Regional finalists from Pensacola to New Orleans will converge on “After Dark” July 20-22, 2012 where one female winner and one male winner will be chosen to represent the Gulf Coast Region in Laughlin, Nevada in September. There is $375,000 in cash and prizes that will be up for grabs! Finalist will also be competing in front of talent scouts, promoters and record label representatives.
Drink and food specials abound throughout the restaurant and club. Ladies night is Friday from 9 to 11 p.m. Free well, draft and domestic beer is on line for all ladies and drink specials running throughout the night. Tuesday is casino/military night where those with a valid ID can get 2 for 1 specials.
Lil’ Italy is open Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. until. DJ JB provides a great mix of tunes every Tuesday and Friday night. This guy is a fun-loving, teddy bear of a man that gets the place rocking! The clientele at the club is surprisingly over 80% female on any given night and these girls really know how to party!
The club owners have lots of incentives to keep guests happy. You might catch Tony throwing out Jewelry or t-shirts during the breaks on the songs on Karaoke Night. You can also watch for really great specials on http://www.restaurants.com.
Kids can enjoy the food at Lil’ Italy until 9 p.m. and there is even a party room that you can reserve for special occasions. From business meetings and birthday parties to wedding receptions and baby showers, Tony and Lori have you covered. The couple will decorate the room, serve the food and work with you to make sure that every detail is attended to.
During the upcoming football season, you can expect big things to be happening at Lil’ Italy. The bar and dining areas sport nice sized TVs and Tony has made sure that “Sunday Ticket” is on line for all the college and pro games.
The “After Dark” food menu is large enough to give you a great choice beyond the typical peanuts and pretzels faire that some clubs offer. We recommend the unbelievable burgers (any one is good) and the Fried Ponchatoula Strawberries for dessert. All the entrees and desserts are homemade from Tony and Lori’s most cherished family recipes.
