Gulfport Music Festival 2012

The Gulfport Music Festival made it’s star studded debut this time last year. Fans crowded into beautiful Downtown Gulfport in record numbers to enjoy their favorite artists in Country, Alternative, Rock, and Hip Hop. The premeire event last May featured headliners, Train, Montgomery Gentry, Flo Rida, and Sean Kingston. There was plenty of “dancin in the streets” and everyone had a blast. The level of success exceeded all expectations and the fans cried out for more! Almost immediately the Executives at Mississippi Media and their partners at the City of Gulfport began planning the sequel. This year, there are some very exciting differences beginning with an even bigger roster of non stop entertainment for THREE full days and nights! Also, the party has been moved from the streets of Downtown Gulfport to the brand new Jones Park on the beach! And the Headliners? Operations Manager for Mississippi Media, Kenny Vest, once again got the biggest stars in the music industry to come to the Coast!
Maroon 5 is the hottest Pop band in America right now. Front man Adam Levine is everywhere these days, starring in perhaps the biggest hit TV show, The Voice. Levine judges and tutors up and coming contemporary artists with fellow music greats, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and Cee Lo Green. Maroon 5 will play to their legions of fans on the Main Stage at GMF on Sunday night, May 20th. Levine and his band are riding a tremendous wave of success with hit after hit on ITunes.
Hip Hop, Pop, R&B superstar, Nelly does it all and does it like nobody else. He has been called one of the biggest stars of the new millennium, and has been recognized as one of the best selling male artists in American Music history. Nelly has developed two very success ful clothing lines, and is also a very fine actor. His latest project was the release of a fitness DVD entitled Celebrity Sweat. On Saturday, May 19th, this explosive entertainer will own the night at the GMF.
Country Music star, Gary Allan will bring his his extraordinary, one-of-a-kind style to the biggest Block Party in the South on the first night of the Gulfport Music Festival. Gary’s illustrious career has produced seven studio albums and a collection of Greatest Hits. He has released 24 singles with seven songs going into the Top Ten of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, and three became Number One hits. Gary is known for his soulful and painfully honest lyrics that illustrate the most difficult of real life situations. He loves traditional Country music and stays true to the format… he wouldn’t have it any other way. Gary Allan was kind enough to visit with me for a very special Celebrity Chat feature this month in honor of the Gulfport Music Festival. Don’t miss it!
This event will showcase new talent, as well as bringing back your favorite bands and local artists you have come to love. There will be an incredible array of singers and musicians to entertain you without missing a beat beginning Friday afternoon and continuing through Sunday night. Three distinctive stage locations will keep this party rockin. Look for the Main Stage presented by C-Spire Wireless, Domino’s Pizza, Bud Light and Pepsi. The Allen Hyundai Party Pavillion will be the site of two exciting after-parties on Friday and Saturday nights and two dozen bands will play here during the event. You can’t miss the giant 100,000 square foot open-air pavillion! When you want to enjoy the music in a more intimate setting, it’s time to head for The Dock Bar and Grill Beer Garden. While you’re there, be sure and check out the wide selection of craft beers on tap!
It is no small feat to put together a concert event the size and scope of the Gulfport Music Festival. Kenny Vest and his associates at Mississippi Media; Market VP, Bill West and Director of Sales, Ricky Mitchell, worked tirelessly with Ryan LaFontaine in Mayor George Schloegel’s office. They are an unstoppable team that makes things happen on the Gulf Coast. We all benefit because they are so totally committed to keeping this area a destination of choice for visitors with continued growth on the entertainment front for locals as well. Title sponsors for the Gulfport Music Fest include Budweiser, Domino’s Pizza, Pepsi, C-Spire Wireless and the Island View Casino.
As was the case at the premiere Gulfport Music Festival event, some of the best Coast restaurants will once again offer a wonderful assortment of delicious foods and treats. “There is something to suit everyone, from boiled shrimp to ice cream! There will be no shortage of great food and drink,” Kenny Vest said. Soft drinks, beer and ice water will be sold throughout the festival. Please…do not bring in coolers or outside food or drink but lawn chairs are fine. No video cameras are allowed, and of course, no weapons of any kind will be tolerated. There are very few rules and regulations, but they must be adhered to for everyone’s safety and well being. The number one rule is to HAVE FUN!
There will be different designs to choose from for the 2012 Gulfport Music Festival t-shirt this year. The shirt will make a very special collectible item or will be the perfect attire for the entire weekend. These will sell out quickly so be sure you get yours right away upon your arrival. Hundreds of entries were submitted for consideration for t-shirt designs, but only a few were chosen to represent the event.
Tickets are available for individual days or for the full three day weekend of music but they are going fast. The “Early Bird” tickets have completely sold out. Children up to the age of 10 will be admitted for $5.00 each day with a paying adult over 18 years of age. Last year, twenty thousand people bought tickets. The 2012 Gulfport Music Festival is predicted to be the largest music event to ever be held on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. “It was wonderful last year. People totally supported the event and that’s why we are able to do it again this year,” Ricky Mitchell said. For more information, check out the Gulfport Music Festival website or the facebook page.
