Feb. 2013 – Letter from our Editor

020113GTP is pleased to put the focus on Black History Month with a very special, poignant visit with Dr. Gilbert Mason, Jr. who journey’s back in time during the turbulent 50’s and 60’s.

We honor the many accomplishments of Sam Bailey, who is the Public Transportation Director for the Biloxi School System. This Mover and Shaker keeps the buses running in tip top form and keeps your kids safe in their travels to and from school.
Our dear friend, JoAn Niceley of Pink Hearts Fund is at it again with a spectacular “Evening In Pink” on February 23. Read all about it here and do all you can to support her wonderful, generous wig program for cancer patients. You can make a real difference!
Who doesn’t love pizza? Well, how bout a pizza that is as big as a card table! Tastebuds takes you to Toarmina’s Pizza for an Italian feast fit for a king!
The battle for NFL supremacy will be fought this month. The Coast has a very special young man to cheer for during the Superbowl who plays for the San Francisco 49ers. Please be sure to give it up for our own Tramaine Brock, # 26! Tramaine was born in Gulfport and went to High School in Long Beach!
And the next time you are at Barnes and Nobles or Books-A-Million, or checking out Amazon online, be sure to get a copy of “Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made.” It is the hugely entertaining, true story of two Ocean Springs boys (Eric Zala and Chris Strompolos) and their lifelong friendship. During adolescence they remake Raiders of the Lost Ark – every shot, every line of dialog and every stunt. This little home made movie takes on a life of it’s own and has been delighting audiences all over the world. Steven Spielberg has called it “The best piece of flattery George Lucas and I have ever received,” and soon “Raiders” will be made into a major motion picture!
Have a happy Mardi Gras everyone!
