The craft beer market has exploded and it is particularly popular on the Coast. Beer drinkers love the unusual, daring new flavors. People are intrigued and want to try them, curiosity is at an all time high. Craft Beer has shaken up the status quo in a big, big way. The industry welcomed a new kid on the block in 1991, New Belgium Brewing out of Fort Collins, Colorado. It is nestled next to the Cache La Poudre River. Fat Tire Amber Ale arrived on the scene to rave reviews and with great anticipation. It is just one of their many, unique and distinctive brews you can find right here in South Mississippi. Each is quite memorable for color, body, and aroma, and the variation of flavors is like nothing you ever tasted before. An added bonus on each bottle and can is the wonderful, whimsical artwork that New Belgium is also famous for. (more…)
Biloxi Main Street Executive Director, Kay Carter, knows how to excite the masses and throw one heck of a party. She is the driving force behind all the wonderful events that take place year after year in downtown Biloxi. There is never a shortage of fun, family friendly, free things to do and one of our all time favorites is Grillin’ on the Green. South Mississippi has endured one of the strangest winters on record with insanely cold temperatures and even having snow and ice on the ground! We are all beyond ready for the warmer temperatures to begin so we can get outside and enjoy everything that our beautiful coast has to offer. Circle the date on your calendars everyone because on Saturday, March 15th, from 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m it will be time again to cheer on your favorite Grillin’ team and chow down on some of the most scrumptious BBQ fare on the planet. The sun always shines for Grillin’ on the Green so get your family and friends together for the perfect way to kick off Spring. (more…)
The youngest of four boys born to adoring parents, Kenneth and Germaine, Barry Lyons grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi on the Back Bay. He comes from “salt of the earth” people. Both Kenneth and Germaine worked as they raised their sons. They instilled in them a strong, loving, unshakable foundation that began with a solid education. The boys had a wonderful time, exploring their surroundings and playing sports but one sport in particular meant more to the family than any other…America’s favorite pastime…Baseball. (more…)
Two Lego Hands up! This movie is nothing but fun, fun, fun. I often found myself laughing along with the children at the silly jokes. There is definitely a great sense of innocence with this movie, but there is also a clear underlining theme as well. Good vs Evil. Normality vs Creativity. Adulthood vs Childhood. Singularity vs Teamwork. Let’s not forget the spectacular flow of graphics and the all-star cast that all come together to create this fantastic piece of art. (more…)
Family oriented fun is back in a big way. Ron Meyers Productions has teamed up with the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) and BBQ World to make this year’s Harbor Fest one for the record books.
Harbor Fest will be held Saturday, March 29th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jones Park in Gulfport. Unlike other events on the coast, this one ENCOURAGES families to bring their leashed pets to join in the fun, making it the only truly pet-friendly festival on the Mississippi Gulf Coast! (more…)

You should, that’s who. The Founding Fathers created the Bill of Rights to protect the rights of individuals. The freedoms of religion, speech, association, and the rest all refer to individual liberties. The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is no different. As many of you know, the Second Amendment continues to come under attack by those who would subvert your rights to bear arms. (more…)
Don’t throw away those newspapers and plastic bags! Your recyclable trash could be just what you need to create the most amazing fashions the coast has ever seen.
The 4th Annual (NO) Trash Bash will be held on Wednesday, March 19th at 6 p.m. at the Bay Saint Louis Community Center on Blaize Avenue. All you need to compete is an eye for design, the heart of an artist and, of course, a little trash. (more…)

This month we bring you a guided tour of the magnificent adoration chapel that recently opened in Biloxi at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Find out how this labor of love came to be through the fearless determination of their pastor and the tremendous generosity of the parishioners.
Meet Larry Sablich, Port Manager for the City of Biloxi, who is our February Mover & Shaker. He has the enormous task of presiding over all the Biloxi fishing piers and harbors yet actually knows most fishermen who come and go by name.
Parents be sure and check out the article on Upward Sports. They partner with churches all over the country to provide the safest, most enjoyable sports programs for your kids. Registration for soccer is going on right now.
Until very recently, the pastor of Our Lady of Fatima in Biloxi was Father Paddy Mockler. He has always been a man of vision, a man who makes things happen, and he has always had a tremendous following. He is a charming gentleman who is well known for his ability to rally support for whatever is most near and dear to his heart. One such desire was to have an adoration chapel built on the grounds of the church, and it would be an extraordinary place of prayer and worship. (more…)
When Larry Sablich was a kid, growing up on Porter Avenue in Biloxi, he never dreamed he’d one day be managing so many important parts of the seafood industry on the coast.
Biloxi is in his blood and this special part of the world is where he has chosen to settle and grow his loving family. If you’ve ever known anyone from “da point” (Point Cadet) then you know what a unique breed multi-generational Biloxians can be. (more…)
