May 2014 – Letter from our Editor

050114Hello Everyone!

It is such a beautiful time of year with everything in bloom and so much going on. We hope that you are enjoying all the wonderful events happening up and down the coastline because there is a wealth of entertainment out there and you don’t want to miss any of it!
Our special guest journalist, Melody Worsham, leaves no stone unturned as she explains the complexities of mental health care in Mississippi. It is a fascinating account of a very sensitive subject that is more often than not, ignored and misunderstood.
Meet a remarkable woman who selflessly and bravely ventures into the hidden world of the homeless campsites each week to bring much needed supplies and food. Lynda Favre is the founder of Shepherd of the Gulf in Gulfport. She has dedicated her life to helping those who live tucked away in the shadows. We honor her as our GTP Mover and Shaker for the month of May.
The Center Stage Arts and Crafts Show will be a delightful event with 47 vendors on hand showcasing local talent and serving up delicious Coast culinary treats. Come out and support Center Stage on May 17th so you can continue to enjoy artistic excellence in theater productions right here at home. And on May 31st, the Pass Christian Harbor is the place to be for a two day festival celebrating the best BBQ with live music that never stops!
Another school year is drawing to a close – Please drive with great caution and don’t get distracted with texts and phone calls as little ones will be out and about. Thank you!
