HOME OF GRACE 2014 RIDE & FESTIVAL With Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant

The Home of Grace needs you! The wonderful people that work diligently to help those with various addictions now need your help. By supporting their valiant efforts you will be investing in the lives of those in your community and beyond.
This year’s Home of Grace Ride is presented by Ingalls Shipbuilding and will have the governor of the great state of Mississippi Phil Bryant and his wife, Deborah, leading the way! All proceeds will benefit the Home of Grace Addiction Recovery Scholarship Program.
We contacted Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, the HOG Ride founder, to get his views on this year’s ride, Home of Grace and to get his view on what this ride and festival means to him. Here is what the governor had to say:

Q. You must get hundreds of requests for your participation in events. Why do you, a busy public servant, choose to take the time to be a part of this event? Q. How did your office come to be involved with the Home of Grace and this event?
I believe in the work that Home of Grace does and have participated in the HOG ride before. In fact, I rode in the inaugural HOG ride in 2010 when I was Lieutenant Governor and had Gov. Mike Huckabee join me. I also rode in last year’s HOG ride. (more…)

The City of Diamondhead Is The Place To Be!

As the seasons begins to change, you will find all kinds of wonderful things to see and do on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Diamondhead will kick off this beautiful time of year with two fun filled events that the whole family will thoroughly enjoy.
The Diamondhead Hummer Fest will take place on Saturday, Sept 13th and promises to be a day filled with wonder and surprises. This is the 3rd year in a row that Bob and Rhonda Vaughan have hosted the event. The Hummer Fest takes place on their private property and they roll out the red carpet for their guests. “It is not uncommon to have hundreds of hummingbirds visit us during the season. For years we would travel to Louisiana to attend a hummingbird/butterfly festival in Folsom, then it occurred to me that we had more hummers coming and going right here at home, in our own backyard! So Bob and I decided to create our own hummingbird festival in South Mississippi,” Rhonda said. (more…)

Downtown Gulfport has a new reason to shine. High Maintenance Hair Salon is a welcome addition to the area, located at 1625 25th Avenue. The beautiful property is steeped in history. Built in the 1940’s, it was actually the first fire department in the city of Gulfport! Owner, Jean Gillan, is thrilled to be a part of the revitalization of downtown. “I love the New Orleans style of my building with the huge open floor plan, exposed beams and original brick, it is exactly what I always imagined my salon would look like,” she said. Almost immediately, the café was a hit. Guests are waiting every morning when the doors open at 6 a.m. and many of the hungry clients have already become regulars that have their favorite seat.
With a retro café theme, Lisa has put her own spin on the décor by mingling seafood related photos with 50’s era dining tables and chairs to create a unique and homey atmosphere. (more…)
