CAFÉ CLIMB, CLIMB Community Development Corporation

cafecCafé Climb and Climb CDC is inspiring self-reliance in the lives of young people on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Climb CDC started 9 years ago as part of an international organization but 3 years ago it became a local and independently governed place where learning is all about on the job training.
Not only is the organization focused on teaching and training our local young people but they are tuned into the needs of employers across the state and beyond. Many of the students work with local businesses to hone their skills.
Café Climb, located in a beautifully restored downtown building at 1316 30th Avenue in Gulfport, is a superbly run teaching café where students are taught the fine art of customer service, culinary expertise and the nuances of being a barista.
Café Climb is proud to announce the launch of Star Bucks in their café for the purpose of training their baristas and hospitality professionals. Certifications are earned in all areas and 4 hours of college credit is given through the American Counsel of Education. Students also receive their Serve Safe Certifications through the program.
Those who are eligible to become students at Climb CDC can choose a culinary track or other avenues that teach them technical skills or construction services. All graduates also receive their G.E.D. after a 10 month course of study with a 12 month follow-up period. All of this training comes at no cost to the students.
Climb CDC relies on the kindness of the local community for support. You can make a difference in the lives of local young adults by supporting CCDC with your donations whether monetarily or by providing the materials they need. Donated construction materials are always used in home building projects for those less fortunate.
You can volunteer through the organizations mentoring program or as a G.E.D. tutor. Retired teachers are needed to serve as chefs who can host guest classes. All students are ages 16 through 26 and must adhere to guidelines set forth by the CCDC.
The Women’s Business Center Division of CCDC helps women to be empowered through teaching them skills they need to be self-reliant in today’s world. The Women’s Business Center is for ladies of all ages where the CCDC identifies a need.
One of the most unique banquet halls on the Coast is at CCDC. The Climb Event Center is a lovely mix of industrial chic and historical charm. With standing room for 1750, the center can seat 400 comfortably. There are roll up doors to the Café Climb kitchen that makes it perfectly suited for catering. If you want to rent the facility, you can bring in your own caterer but the rental fee goes down considerably when you choose to use the Café Climb Catering. A 25’x 25’ stage located in the facility provides ample room for a band as well.
Climb CDC runs a bus for students in Harrison County and classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Café Climb is open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a drive thru window and a sit-down restaurant area. You can book parties and make reservations through the Hospitality Director by calling 228-864-6677.
