2nd Annual Pass Christian BBQ & Blues Festival

photoSummer is washing rays of sunshine over the coast and one of the best ways to enjoy it is to get out in the warmth and share good times with friends. The 2nd Annual Pass Christian BBQ & Blues Festival is the perfect place to do just that.
On Saturday, May 31st, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Pass Christian Harbor will be the place where it all begins. The two day festival is quickly becoming one of the “must do” events on the coast. All local arts and crafts vendors, competition BBQ teams and food vendors are urged to secure a spot for the weekend of fun and excitement. The second day of the event will be Sunday, June 1st from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature tons of vendors, lots of food and wonderful music.
Renee Brooks, Founder of the Pass Christian Harbor Fest is originally from New Orleans but has chosen the beautiful Pass Christian area to settle and give back to the community. “We have events throughout the year. The Oyster Fest, Poboy Fest, Blessing of the Fleet and the BBQ & Blues Festival are all centered on the things that make Pass Christian so unique. Next year, the PCHF group will add their first ever car show to the roster of festivals. All proceeds go into our nonprofit organization, Pass Christian Harbor Festivals, Inc., so we can use the money to give back to the community in the form of educational scholarships, harbor beautification, free festivals and community development,” Brooks said.
The Backyard BBQ Challenge will find amateurs and professionals competing for cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights for 2014. Anyone can compete in all 3 categories (chicken, brisket and ribs) but to be eligible for the grand prize, competitors must enter all 3.
You never know what will happen during judging! Everyone is on a level playing field here. It’s exciting to think that a home barbeque cook can come out and win against professionals that have been competing for years. Rex Distributing will sponsor the event and rules and regulations can be viewed on the website.
A huge tent with over 300 seats will be set up for festival goers to relax, eat in comfort and get out of the sun. The Pass Christian Harbor Festival directors have thought of everything. Cool water misters will give folks a chance to refresh themselves and fans will be blowing cool breezes all day long.
Blues music will be a central part of the event too. Local and regional blues legends and bands will be on stage to entertain with some of the best music ever performed.
If you prefer to take your boat to the festival, the PC Harbor is ready to accommodate you. Boat slips will be available 24 hours for only $21.40 per day.
